HOW MUCH IS IT AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
Let's talk. When calling, please provide your name and phone number twice and the reason for your call. If you use the contact form, please give a brief history of your needs and concerns.
Book the Initial Consult, Behavior Consult or New Puppy Visit then fill out the questionnaire(s) I will send you. Block off 90 minutes to two uninterrupted hours for the first visit. The Initial Consult provides you with lots of things to practice, so don't worry - it will be worth it! This allows sufficient time spent getting to know you, your family, and the training needs of your dog. After this meeting, you'll have options to choose from to continue your dog's training with no high-pressure tactics. This may include a package of sessions or a referral to a colleague's group class.
In-person Initial Consults and New Puppy Visits are $95/hour. (Paused until 2021.)
Phone or Zoom Consults (including New Puppy Visits and behavior consults where applicable) bill at $40-$60/half-hour.
In-person Behavior Consults (not including aggressive behavior or dog bite cases) are $125.00/hour. (Paused until 2021.)
Behavior Consults for dog aggression or dog bite cases are charged at $150-$300/hour. These cases must be referred by your veterinarian. Contact Pupstart for more information on how to put that in motion. These dog bite cases are not accepted: law enforcement has intervened, a lawsuit is pending, a dog killed another pet, or a human or animal victim required emergency medical care such as stitches or surgery. NO EXCEPTIONS.
The number of sessions in a package varies depending on what your training goals are or the scope of work needed to sufficiently address a behavior problem. Package sessions are longer than an hour. Package prices for dog aggression or dog bites are negotiable. You also have the option of continuing on a pay-as-you-go basis.
Travel required more than 40 miles outside the Des Moines metro incurs an additional travel fee.
Your dog must be healthy and current on vaccinations. Titers are accepted with proof from your veterinarian.
Payment is required at the time of service. Pupstart takes cash, checks with a photo ID, and credit cards using Square.
